Wellbeing, Mental Health and Suicide Awareness are important all year round – not just during Stop. Make a Change.  Whilst we are working with our partners this October, their work and others continues throughout the year.

RESOURCES & SIGNPOSTING
  • Building Mental Health is a Framework, borne out of a cross-industry volunteer group created with contributions from clients, contractors, specialist sub-contractors, designers, trade associations, trade unions, regulators, training bodies. The purpose is to provide a flexible and consistent framework to enable all parts of the construction sector to access mental health support, provide awareness and training and put in place a structure and systems to support people working in and around our industry. • Construction Leadership Council Mental Health Project - The CLC undertakes ongoing activity to identify the key root causes for poor mental health in construction and consult with key industry stakeholders on what can be done to eliminate or reduce the identified root causes. The CLC Mental Health Project is undertaking a consultation - once the results are collated, they will agree an action plan with industry leaders and key stakeholders and then implement the agreed actions. • Need to Talk, CIOB - CIOB know from their own research that more than a quarter of construction workers surveyed have experienced suicidal thoughts in the last year, so this is not an issue they can ignore. That’s why they launched the ‘Need to Talk’ sticker campaign. It’s a simple idea with discreet on-site stickers, placed inside lockers and toilet cubicles, carrying a QR code that links directly to immediate mental health and wellbeing support services. Since the campaign’s launch, over 22,000 stickers have been distributed, and visits to the CIOB mental health support page have risen by 600%, a clear sign of both the demand and the difference this is already making. For more information on the CIOB's Need to Talk sticker campaign, click here.
