Stop. Make a Change 2026
In 2026, Stop. Make a Change is going back to basics, focusing on key Health and Safety risks our workforce face every day. Policies and Procedures are put in place to minimise the risks, but they are rarely eliminated.
Throughout October 2026, Stop. Make a Change will be highlighting key Serious Injuries and Fatalities, targeting high-risk situations, identifying, and controlling hazards before they cause severe harm, as well as key health challenges that can also be life-altering and fatal. Alongside all of these, we must consider the mental health implications for those personally impacted, their families, friends, and colleagues.
Working with partners from across the health, safety and wellbeing spectrum, Stop. Make a Change will provide free resources, educational opportunities, and practical support to help you to protect your workforce, your colleagues, and the public.
In September 2026, Stop. Make a Change will be moving to the main CECA website, so keep checking and follow CECA Policy on LinkedIn for updates.
To get involved, please contact Kate Lloyd, Sector Group Manager, CECA Policy. [email protected]

More than 500,000 employers and employees have taken part in Stop. Make a Change since it was inaugurated by the Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA) in 2017. The campaign has since been endorsed across the sector, including by the government-industry strategic partnership the Construction Leadership Council (CLC).
If you would like to highlight what your organisation is doing during SMAC-25, please use the social media hashtags #SMAC26 and/or #StopMakeAChange.
If you already think you know how CECA can support you as part of SMAC-25 then please e-mail [email protected]. Please also use this e-mail address to drop us a line to register your interest - no form filling required - just a simple 'Yes' will suffice along with your contact details.
