Making a commitment. Changing lives.

Stop. Make a Change is the only nationwide campaign of its kind in UK construction, in which companies temporarily cease work to participate in sessions aimed at improving the health, safety, and wellbeing of everyone working in the sector.

Stop. Make a Change has been run every year since 2017, involving hundreds of CECA members, other construction companies, as well as clients - reaching tens of thousands of operatives.
This year, Stop Make a Change will take place for the whole of October 2025.

A whole month to demonstrate the gravity of the challenges construction faces in relation to the mental health of our workforce, at all levels, across the industry. In partnership with Andy’s Man Club, the Lighthouse Charity, and Mates in Mind, we will support the industry to;
  • understand the stressors leading to poor mental health,
  • introduce and enhance well-being activity to help create a healthy and happy workforce, and
  • raise awareness of the support available to construction workers and their families in their times of need.
The contributors to poor mental health are widespread in our industry. Physical ill-health, injury, disability, drugs and alcohol, challenging workplaces, and working away from home all impact mental health. All these topics could be explored during Stop. Make a Change 2025 and feature in our Conversation Starter kits.
